The first time I heard anyone mention writing something every day, I thought it was so much non-sense. Then I realized I’d been writing something every day for most of my life. And, I’m recognized as an expert writer, maybe not because of what I write every day, but because I do write every single day.
A few weeks back, a fellow expert marketer and I were enjoying a cup of coffee at a local coffee shop. Our appearance there wasn’t planned, nor was it an occasion that meant anything to either of us. In fact, I’d been escaping a noisy household for a bit and he was trying to find another business, stopped to ask for directions. I gave him directions and realized he was headed for an event I’d been scheduled for, but was too late getting away from the house that morning to attend. I shared that he was a bit late arriving and we had a good laugh and then, a cup of the best coffee in south Denver metro area… Solid Grounds has incredibly good baristas and a yummy coffee selection (their sandwiches are incredibly delicious too).
Over coffee, we chattered about the possibilities of a person getting online and marketing a business successfully. These five tips and suggestions came out of that discussion.
1 – Always keep your blog up dated and on topic. You can tell a story, but make sure your story has something to do with your topic. An expert marketer in any area will understand the importance of talking about what he/she does on their blog to keep the reader coming back for more information.
2 – Use Article Marketing to drive traffic to your website and blog. By using article marketing, you’ll be creating natural back links to your blog and providing valuable content to the internet.
3 – Offer to guest post on other people’s blogs where relevant, and invite other experts in your field of interest to guest post on your blog. Be specific when you ask and tell the person they’re welcome to post a single link to their own website, while posting on your pages.
4 – Be generous with offers you present on your website. Always use a dedicated means of collecting names and information while increasing traffic to your site and to your marketing funnel. You’ll be glad you have names, so you can send invitations to re-visit your site often.
5 – Write something of value, marketing your business every single day. This is important. No matter how many billable hours you work, each day, you must do some marketing to keep your own business successful.
These tips have been helpful to me. I don’t always write on my blog. Sometimes I write an email, a response to a client, work on an ebook, or create a report, but I always write something of marketing value for my business, every single day. You should do that too!
