Here it is – the explanation for the August Banner at JanVerhoeff.com:
In October of 2010 my mom, Esther Mulaney, died of cancer. There has been a continuous support from my family to cancer research centers over the years, because we all believe that there must be a cure for this devastating disease. I personally believe that the cure may not be all the bells and whistles of modern medicine, but more aptly natural herbs and less intrusive options, but while we’re seeking better options, I believe there’s need for greater research and results for curing this incredibly painful disease.
Mom’s cancer was not breast cancer, it started out as ovarian cancer and mastitized before she knew she had cancer. She may or may not have known she was ill, I may never know. But she had no clue that she had cancer, and THAT was a bad moment. I wished so hard that I could do something for her and I worked for two months to make her feel better, help cure her, have faith that a miracle would happen, and listened to every single word she said, sometimes, off and on all night long as she kept talking.
The pain of watching my mother slowly fade away, eaten up by cancer was traumatic and painful. There must be a cure. I know that my mother would want me to do everything in my power to help find a cure, for this dreadful disease.
On the right, you’ll see my mom’s last photo, with my great niece, Lena. Even in those final hours, mom’s wishes were clear, that none of her grandchildren (or anyone else) should ever suffer from this dreaded disease.
