Painting and sketching went along with writing. From the early days, Jan Verhoeff spent hours with a pencil in hand, then a paint brush. She left it behind as high school gave way to college and a career in business, until the need to destress her life brought her back to the canvas.

A new mom, Jan started painting for stress relief, and then had an opportunity to show her work. She spent several seasons showing locally, before stretching out to show at art events across a multi-state area. A few more children and her painting time was pre-empted by mommy time, but she still found time to color the canvas. As her work became known to collectors, via various auctions, she began painting on request, various topics, all landscapes of either the mountains or the plains.

As the children grow up and move on to their respective interests, Jan becomes more and more involved in painting, showing her art, and presenting workshops on painting or writing. Her love of the mountains, the prairies and the combination of scenic landscapes in Colorado provides plenty of inspiration.
