Deepak Morris is a friend from Pune, India. I’ve known him for a few years, long enough to know that he’s typical of most single men his age, he likes to flatter and compliment women. Which is good, because he’s created friendships around the world with a group of women writers, me included. When the topic of age comes up, he often reminds us that we’re young in age, experienced and valuable, because of our years. We have him well trained.

“It’s okay, I’m just bubbling over… My Gramma does it all the time.” We’d been having a conversation about playtime behavior at the park and Elizabeth took a time out, beside me. She hadn’t misbehaved, but the little boy playing with her had pushed her down the slide in fun, and she got angry. Talking through anger has always been my favorite way to settle the battles of life. So, we talked.
I’m a coffee lover. Be honest about it, I don’t like the traditional, plain jane coffees, but I’m absolutely crazy about those decadent, rich coffee house delights! Let’s face it. Folgers doesn’t make it to my cup very often, and when it does, I’m usually less than entranced by the arrival. This morning, after dropping my son off at DU for the Republican Colorado State Assembly, I stopped off at Solid Grounds (if I’m going to be up before dawn, I deserve a treat) for a Breve. Thoughts on Easter and the Easter Bunny, along with all the beautiful traditions of this magnificent morning… Over coffee, and our traditional Easter weekend treats, these thoughts came to mind. On Easter morning, the stone was rolled away, and Mary Magdalene found Jesus in the garden. The symbolism that comes with Easter seems fraught with fantasy, but in my imagination, I see the garden as a place where the fantasy of eternity came to life. Jesus arose! After a late night (got home at midnight, driving through an ice storm), I woke up early to a rash of crisis from clients calling with minor changes in ISP-servers causing issues with email, websites, etc. No biggie, evidently CenturyLink didn’t send out the memo. I fixed the problem and got to work on my next project.
