Thanksgiving - Be Grateful in All Things

Posted by: admin on Thursday, November 12th, 2009

Today starts a process of being grateful — well, a new one. I love this time of year, and my favorite part is that I hear so many reasons why people are grateful and thankful for who they are and what they have. Each year, in some way, I start my own list. This year, I decided to write my list here with the first 25 things I’m grateful for…

1. my children.

2. my granddaughter.

3. my parents.

4. my sister.

5. my niece and nephews - both generations.

6. my life (it may not be glamorous or wonderful, but it’s mine and I think it’s just fine).

7. my work. I’m doing what I love.

8. my clients.

9. my cozy home… it could be larger, better, more modern, and more spacious, even warmer on cold days, but it’s mine and that makes it better than many others.

10.  yummy delicious food to eat.

11. friends and neighbors.

12. my hometown.

13. my network of professional contacts.

14. my state - I live in Colorado, the most beautiful state in the Union! (How about those Broncos!!!)

15. my interests that keep me moving and thinking more along the lines of public interests and life in general.

16. newspapers and media that keep us aware of what’s happening (even when they don’t tell the truth and can’t be trusted).

17. a government that prizes freedom above all else (current regime exempted, and I know it’s not perfect, but it’s still the best available).

18. technology that allows me to communicate.

19. natural medicine choices that allow me to extract myself from the yukky health care crap that’s coming down the pike.

20. words.

21. inspiration and miracles that just happen to bring joy to our lives.

22. cold cloudy days that remind me how much I love hot cocoa in the morning.

23. fog along the river that allows the mountain lion to scream without sending chills down my spine.

24. leaves falling in November.

25. because this one is bigger than anything I mentioned before — I’m grateful for God, the creator of our existence, who by his grace has set me free to live a greater existence than just here on earth. I know I believe and therefore I know eternity exists.
