Making a Life – Making Money

The night after my daughter’s C-section, I listened to her dreams. They weren’t  big imposing dreams, rather dreams of doing what I had done – stay at home and raise her children. But… as a single mom, that option isn’t easy. She’ll need to support her children and have a life.

The call to stay at home and raise your children is a noble calling, one that meets the full aspect of Desire and God’s Will. Marnie Pherson, on her blog “Monetize Your Gifts” talks about living your desires through your calling to serve God, by way of the gifts you’re given. Many of the mother’s I’ve known, lived their calling in this way.

Tonight, I sit here – inspired – by nurses who live their calling, press toward their purpose of life and serve others in the noblest manner known. These women give with a tender heart, caring for strangers as a mother cares for her child.

As little girls, we grow up wishing to follow the dream, fortune and fame, with a desire to meet the Prince and live happily ever after. Life isn’t that way. It doesn’t happen like a fairy tale. We make mistakes… We often choose mates like our mother’s before us, trusting our instincts to let us choose the man who will not only create the most  spectacular babies, but love us and support us in  our endeavor. We’re looking for the one man called by God to be our man.

Unfortunately, we don’t always find that man.

Truth be told,  men don’t always find the woman who meets their desires. They don’t always meet the woman who will bear their children, love, support and encourage them in their desires either.

As a woman, this revelation brings hope of a greater future. This concept of reality checks at the basis, the foundation of commitment, dedication and love required to have that forever, everlasting continuum of  love and support that every woman (and man) desires. Knowledge of this magnitude brings with it the understanding that when God gives us a dream, a desire to accomplish a given task, he gives us the ability to accomplish the task.

God has given my daughter a desire to stay at home and raise her children. He has also given her the means to accomplish that goal. Her dedication to her children are the first aspect of that purpose in life. Her desire to help others is yet another aspect.
