Drama Queen – Potential for Success
The title of Drama Queen sometimes belongs to various members of the family at various times in their lives, but one person more than any other carries the title well. Elizabeth often adds excitement to our lives with her dramatic entrances, expressions and announcements.
This morning, as the world turned yet one more time around the sun, she announced, “daylight is coming.” And, of course, it does – once a day. The trouble with her announcement was that it had already arrived. In the glimmer hours of sunrise, she’d slept. So when she arose nearly three hours afterward, she couldn’t understand that sunrise came without her.
The blinds are often pulled to darken her room slightly, but the sliding door on the balcony is often open by the time she awakens. She gathers her favorite things to join whoever is on the balcony and enjoy the morning. Whether it’s “coffee” time or “tea” time, her joy shines in a hopeful uplifted smile as she asks us to share whatever it is we’re drinking. The orange juice in her cup tastes like the best kind of coffee or tea, and she’s totally unaware that our beverage is hot while hers is cold. She sips it like a lady, dramatically, with a pinky finger curled over the handle of the cup.
Discussion often turns to hair and clothing, both her “favorite” things, and the jewels she uses to adorn them. Mommy’s friend Jennifer, a beauty pageant winner, comes up and Elizabeth says, “I want to be pretty like a Beauty Queen.”
