Travel Journals – How to Travel and Make Money

Posted by: admin on Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

Yesterday as we toured the Smokey Mountains, my son quipped, “Wish I could just travel and make money…” I smiled as I kept taking pictures and noting details about the trip. We’d traveled over much of the great plains, settled into the Mississippi River Valley and rolled through the Smokey Mountains, down a long winding road to the Green River Valley. North Carolina was well into view before he asked why I was smiling.

“The photos become a photo journal and those thoughts I keep writing will eventually become part of the book I’ll put together with the photos. That’s how you travel and make money…”

The discussion quickly turned to different topics of writing and how we could turn this trip into a profitable excursion across the country. The topic of blogging came up fast.

Blogging is a great way to make a profit with travel journaling or a photo digest. The sincerest form of blogging would include frequent photo updates and a clear description of the trip, thus far. Including all the interesting happenstances met along the way, along with humorous lymerics and events that happen.

In our case, the funniest moments were captured in the middle of Charlotte, South Carolina as we attempted to find our way past the many circling highways to find the street we were looking for, and the realization that in a combined dialect 485 and 45 are the same number. Lauren had a good laugh when she realized I’d heard 45 instead of 485, and had driven all the way around Charlotte looking for a highway that doesn’t exist, on the highway we were supposed to be looking for. We laughed for almost an hour as we drove back across town through the city streets to arrive at our destination.

Maybe we should call this post – Lost in Charlotte? New possibilities for a romance novel. And the hero could be…
