Write a Letter to Me – My 20 Year-Old Self
Looking back, I know there are many things I would have changed had I known the outcome.
Some of those might have included just having more fun, or laughing more at all the right things, at all the wrong things and being a little bit more myself in most instances. I’d definitely have spent more time pleasing me than I spent trying to please others.
Here’s what I’d tell me:
Work a little harder at keeping fit and being more active, staying in your own life instead of allowing other people’s priorities to become yours.
Stop worrying about the day to day achievements and reach for the longer – more trying goals that you set for yourself. The daily stuff happens, but without more effort the long term goals seem to slip away.
Spend more time focused on You and God, less time focused on pleasing others. (I think I should have learned that lesson earlier – the one about you can’t please everyone.)
Get to know the man on the elevator better.
Write more. Paint more. Live a little more freely.
Give more and share what you have to offer, because you’ve got a lot to share.
When you have babies, enjoy the time you have with them a little bit more. Get down on the floor and play instead of worrying so much about the rest of the world. They’re only little once.
when your babies are teenagers, remember they’re just stretching their wings. (I’m trying to learn this one before they outstretch Mommy’s arms.)
Those are just a few of the things – I’d tell me.
