Beaten into submission…

Okay, so nobody hit me… but it felt the same! I’d given in and that hadn’t originally been my plan.

Sitting on the living room floor with my arms outstretched, draped with “ribbon” (also known as belts, scarves and anything else my granddaughter could imagine) to “gift wrap gramma” might have been embarrassing if it weren’t so much fun. Every piece of fabric brought on gales of laughter and snickers from her younger brother, not to mention rolling on the floor laughing out loud thunder from me. It was all good until the doorbell rang.

An unexpected client dropped by to leave a check…

With me screaming “Don’t answer that door, yet!” my granddaughter opened the door. In all my glorious drapings, I attempted to stand. OOPS, I forgot about the scarf she meticulously tied around my toes, tying them together. Hop. Hop. Hop. FALL INTO CHAIR. Untie toes.

Client is rolling. No, I’m not revealing the client’s name! Suffice it to say, he left his phone in the car on the charger – Thank you, LORD!

So, what is it about being draped in a leopard print scarf, various other scarves and belts that made this radical grandma event so notoriously funny? And WHY would I allow such notoriously embarrassing events to happen during a week day when clients really DO stop by unannounced occasionally?

It might have been the psychedelic butterfly mask I was wearing… Or it could possibly have been the trillions of colors that were swathed around my form randomly by a five year old… Or more likely it could be, could be (not saying it was or wasn’t) the fact that I’d pulled off my sweater to keep them from ruining it with all the stretching and pulling, and was sitting there in my black yoga pants and a HOT pink T-tank that I don’t normally wear in public (other than for the lacy display that makes certain my midriff is covered when my sweaters pull up).

So, when you hear tales of uproar and hilarity that may or may not have actually happened with the grandma of your choice, remember … she was most likely beaten into submission by those dastardly grandchildren!
