At the Coffee Clatter – we rock winter coffee flavors, because they’re yummy, delicious… Pull up a cup and have a chair, let’s chat!
“We’ve got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can’t just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it’s going to get on by itself. You’ve got to keep watering it. You’ve got to really look after it and nurture it.”
― John Lennon
Never a John Lennon fan because his belief system was so skewed from any reality I can comprehend. Yet, taken out of context, added to the central concepts of living, I could at times apply his thoughts to my reality. Randomly, the concept works. This is one of those…
You can’t put love on a shelf!
It has to be applied. You have to put it into action, soak it up and absorb it, and then, rather than keeping it tucked inside… Give it away.
I’m a big believer in giving coffee gift cards, as birthday gifts, holiday gifts, or any gift – really – requiring a card to someone I don’t know well. I offer up a gift card to a local coffee shop, because it’s a gift that works.
Even if you don’t drink coffee, a coffee shop gift card offers an escape from ‘today’s reality’. You don’t have to be a woman to understand how desperately you sometimes just need to ‘escape the moment’ and get away with a friend. It’s real… You need time with friends.
Coffee Clatter Moments?
Some days, no matter how hard I try to do the right things, something goes wrong… And that’s when it’s a coffee clatter moment. Rather than just deal with the continuing increase of stress, and overwhelmingly desire to throw things at the wall, or launch missiles at the offending person, you drive to the nearest coffee shop and indulge in a high calorie, over-priced drink, and a chance meeting with a total stranger who will make you smile. And pray for success… in the smile department.
It’s been a season…
I don’t want anyone’s pity, so I’m not going to launch into the ‘story of my life over the past three years’ but, let’s suffice it to say that “It’s been a season…” and I’ve decided the “season” is OVER. With Thanksgiving came a grand opportunity to fulfill the promise of whatever you sow from your mouth you shall reap from the field, and so I’ve decided to speak ‘gratitude’ over my life, and over the lives of family and friends.
To which… The devil instantly responded, “Challenge accepted.” and began playing in the fields of my life.
I saw him arrive… He stood tall and proud, trouble in hand, ready to destroy the fertile ground, rip out the crops, and destroy the seeds. He arrived on a tornado called Verizon, and instantly… I heard laughter… Bwahahahahahahahaha
It continued, until I had succumbed to the tears of destruction, momentarily overwhelmed with the damage and wishing for something better, something more, and freedom from his damage and destruction. I knew there was more. I knew I could overcome his influence. Nothing he could do, would change my mind, or my purpose.
Hence, he was bound to lose.
They say you have choices. Every choice matters. And with every choice there is a consequence. Have you ever considered what that means?
Seems like the choices you make most often have the biggest chance of going bad…
But you can’t just not make choices anymore… You have to make choices. Your choices have to make a difference. And Ultimately as a result of your choices, the consequences matter.
When I decided to live a life of gratitude, I opened the door and the devil entered in. I didn’t invite him, and it might have been difficult to eliminate him from the beginning, but… Opposite of what he might have thought, my choice was lifted up to God and God will have the final say.
So here’s my list for today… I will:
- fix the problem.
- show love in return.
- be accountable.
- be empowered.
- find solutions to problems.
- be strong, sure, and bold.
- make a difference in the lives of others.
Now pass the coffee and let’s move to the next phase of this program…
