I want to share with you how to start blogging for profit, without losing heart, or wasting your money. I’m not going to lie to you, if you want to make a profit on your blog, going with a free blog option is a bad thing to do, but there are lower cost options that make a lot of sense. And I’ll delve into those a bit on this discussion too.
Before I dive in, I should probably disclose to you that I’m a blogger, and I’m doing this for profit, because I can’t afford to waste my time doing stuff that isn’t profitable in one way or another. So… I either do it because I love it (things like play monopoly with my grandbabies), or I do it for profit (things like writing blog posts and marketing other people’s businesses).
When you consider the process of starting a business on main street, and then cost of starting a blog – to promote that business, there’s a no brainer thing going on there… You know you have to promote your business, and promoting it with a low cost option that gets you FOUND on Main Street, makes good sense.
The website, and blog on the left, shares insights about blogging, and building or growing your business on main street, all while imparting greater wisdom into your process of marketing. That’s it. It’s actually a fairly new version of a business promotion site, and the business it promotes is blogging, and web development. It’s so new to the process of building an online presence that there are only – maybe three – articles on the blog. Still, yesterday, I received a call from the first new client on that site. They’re meeting with me Wednesday to set up their business blog, because they know how important blogging will be in their business marketing plan. How about you?
Do you know the value of an online presence?
When you start blogging, you’ll be sharing your presence. But there’s more… You’ll be sharing who you are. Your expertise will be on display. Other companies, and people who look for your business will find you, because you’re popular in your niche.
Whether you’re building a website selling phone cases, like this specialty site that recently started… Kicking off with patriotic phone cases celebrating Independence Day and summer, or something more traditional? The opportunity to create a product, or service, designed to solve a problem, and then market that item opens up a whole realm of opportunity for profitability. The key is to be found.
As an online marketer, when you share who you are in blog posts, in discussions on social media, and via your own publications, people who are interested in what you do and say will find you. Ultimately, they become interested enough in you, to look specifically for you.
Your online presence and popularity can determine your overall success in business.
Social Media impacts your business results.
Defining your social media activities, and providing actionable social media content can increase profits in your business. Marketing on social media makes a huge difference in your business online. Start blogging for profit using key components of social media in your blogging process.
Because everyone who uses social media is looking for something, and when you provide that solution… Bingo, your business becomes results driven, successful. That’s when you start blogging for profit and achieving your blogging, or profit making goals.
Let’s be honest here…
Not everyone who writes a blog is going to be successful and make money. You’ll have to know what you’re doing, apply some basic elements of success to your game plan, and do what it takes to achieve your personal goal level of success. It may not happen overnight… But there are ways to speed up the process.
Start blogging for profit with personality.
When I started this blogging “thing,” I was probably a lot like you. My first blogs were on free blog sites, because I couldn’t afford to pay someone to host my annual $10.00 domain. Then I realized the paid hosting sites had something I couldn’t add to my site.
But my blogs were cute, sassy, grabbing attention, and making NO MONEY.
Back then (and yeah, it’s been a while back) I couldn’t even SELL ads for other bloggers, or websites and post them on my free hosted blogs. So, making money on my blogs was really almost impossible.
But I had traffic. I had a lot of traffic. And I had a lot of people talking about my blogs.
I had posted solutions people needed. Many of my blog posts included ideas others could use. And my titles were locatable on search engines. My goal was to start blogging for profit, and I knew I had to move on that goal – soon.
Titles are the key to being found online.
Of course, it isn’t just titles… You need more than a catchy title to be found online. But that’s one significant way to be located online, and to gain click-throughs from your interested readers.
To start blogging for profit successfully, you’ll need to learn how to use titles to captivate your audience. Once you’ve captured an audience based on the titles of your content, you’ll know exactly what you need to provide to make marketing profitable.
People ask almost every day if they have to actually WRITE content to have a successful blog. Well, yeah, that’s kind of the point. If you’re writing nothing new on your blog, people will stop coming to read what you have, and if all you do is copy /paste other people’s stuff on your blog, eventually your readers will catch onto that too. Your readers want FRESH, Original Content on your blog. It isn’t really difficult.
Once you’re monetizing your blog, write the kind of things your readers want to read. Write what makes you happy and keeps you moving every day and you’ll probably find others are attracted to the same information.
Yes, there is a formula that works well, and I’ll share that with you.
Every blogger will be a little bit different, so you’ll need to work with someone to adjust these concepts for your personal markets.
Start Blogging for Profit Formula
- Find an affordable blog technical /maintenance /hosting site with strong marketing options and good training, sharing skills and pay for your blog to be hosted, maintained, and loaded. This isn’t really a do-it-yourself thing unless you’re already a great tech. Even some techs have made mistakes. Don’t expect perfection, but do find the best you can afford.
- Select a great domain for your topic, your name, or your niche and buy the domain. This is a one year commitment, but remember, if you don’t keep it up after a year, it’s gone. Keep it up. One year really isn’t long enough to become “the expert in your niche” kind of profitable. Three to five years is a good time, to strategize, plan, and grow your business online.
- Set and schedule post for specific days and keep your schedule. Your readers want to know you’ll have NEW blog posts on a given day, and they will show up on those days. Be there for them and show them how much you care.
