I find myself humming along to whatever song is in my head when I’m writing. Sometimes, it’s a whole song, with words flowing between typing, but more often, I’m just humming as I clatter out the message of my writing.
But where’s the song?
In those moments when I feel like I should be really writing important stuff, I get all caught up in the song, and break out in words… Anything from Blue eyes crying in the rain, in full-on soprano, with guitars blazing through my mind, and Willie Nelson singing back up (he’s good at harmonizing with me), to a bucked up and brilliant Four walls between us, with Faron Young belting out the chorus in his humble voice. There’s nothing like a crooner to make your heart swoon its way through an adventure mystery with a spark of romance… And who doesn’t include a spark of romance in even the most treacherous adventure. Without romance, we’d never pick up another book!
As November winds down, there’s much to do to finish those written pages, and get those books to the publisher… Are you on the downhill side, or still winding up for the writing?
